Violent union busting at garment factory in Bangladesh ~ support by telling the Japanese retailers

Violent threat continues to target union executives at Donglian Fashion to prevent workers from establishing a labor union. The company deals with Japanese wholesalers and industry groups. The garment industry is a core industry in Bangladesh these days, where a majority of 4 million workers are women and they bet a chance to escape poverty and place their dignity as human beings. While there are some company managers who continue complying to the law, many others still violate it. As a trade and investment relationship between Japan and Bangladesh rapidly grows we must hold the Japanese business partners accountable for a healthier, better development of the garment industry in Bangladesh.  バ ングラデシュ・ダッカのドングリアン・ファッション社で、労働組合の結成を妨害するための組合役員への暴力的脅迫が続いています。同社の輸出先に日本の卸 売業者や業界団体が含まれています。バングラデシュの衣料産業は今やこの国の基幹産業であり、４００万人の労働者の大半が女性労働者であり、そこでの労働 に貧困からの脱却の夢と人間としての尊厳を託してきました。法律を守り、経営努力を続けている経営者がいる一方で、無法な経営者も少なくないというのが現 実です。日本とバングラデシュの貿易・投資関係が急速に広がっている今、私たちは日本企業に対してもバングラデシュの衣料産業の健全な発展と継続的関係の ための責任を求めたいと考えます。（おおさか社会フォーラム・喜多幡佳秀）
