Kick-off meeting for the 2014 campaign to re-establish ties between Japan and South Korea

On February 16th, a “Kick-off meeting for the 2014 campaign to re-establish ties between Japan and South Korea” was held at the Tokyo Work Center. 180 people gathered in spite of the remaining snow on the streets. In his key note speech on behalf of the Japanese side, YANO Hideki said, “Although  economic, cultural and personal ties and exchange between the countries are expanding, there has been no summit meeting for more than two years. Political relations between the two countries are in a dangerous state. Prime Minster Abe paid homage to Yasukuni Shrine and the Zaitokukai is repeatedly making Anti-Korean hate speech. We cannot count on the governments to re-establish ties between the two nations. We have to seek a re-establishment of the ties where survivors of colonial rule have a voice and are satisfied.”  (OZAWA Kuniko)
